*sigh*
It happened again. Tried to bake one thing, and it came out as something else.
So what happened this time?
These were meant to be Soft Pear and Coconut Cookies.
Well, they came out as So-Soft-They-Almost-Break, Banana Coconut Cookies.
Eh?
Ok, I should point out that I intended these to be healthy - as in no butter, no sugar, no flour and no egg. Should have smelt trouble from that thought alone, I suppose.
Now, banana is a common egg substitute but often overpowers other ingredients in baked goods. So my logic to counteract this was to use a bit less banana, and er, a bit of oil to compensate. Clearly, this wasn't enough of a binder anyway because the cookies just set in the most pathetic way possible - they crumble at the sight of a hand reaching out to them.
The other issue I had was with the pear - well, to be honest, I didn't know I had an issue with it until the cookies came out tasting nothing like pear at all. I had used overripe pears - ones I'd bought a week ago and left in a paper bag and everything to get them mushy-ripe - so figured they'd be super sweet and pear-like. But no, that damn bit of banana simply Took Over.
On the plus side, they did taste like coconut. So half a success at least?
Fancy a laugh at my other Hungry-Jenny-Faux-Pas?

Friday Pie Day: One Hundred Pies in One Hundred Days
Right, bring on the bells and whistles please, it's the One Hundredth Friday Pie-Day...
...and still counting!
And to celebrate this occasion in true Hungry Jenny style, I decided to bake a HUNDRED pies...
Erm, ok that's a lie. That really would be pie overload.
I'm giving you a 100 pie pics instead.
So here's the pie-down of a 100 Friday Pie Days gone by...
90 pies have been made...
13 Porky Pies...
10 Veggie Friendly Pies...
10 Fishy Pies...
8 Poultry Pies...
8 Custard-style Pies...
6 Fruity Pies... (including a random pie shake)
3 Beefy Pies...
5 Chocolately Pies...
A couple of cereal-inspired pies...
4 lamb pies...
2 Soupy Pies...
2 Festive Pies...
A lesson about Puff Pastry......
And er, 16 other pies that went a bit wrong...
The 10 remaining pie-days were filled with pies eaten out (some good, some bad) and general love-rants about pies…
You may suspect that I might get tired and stop making pies. But you know what? That's never going to happen.
Pie out.
